What’s your story?

"I grew up on the Island of Gozo and all these years of living in NY island life is still something I carry within me. I am the happiest running barefoot, immersed in nature preferably with sand in my toes. I am a homeschooling mom of 2, with a love for animals and a deep passion for travel.

I took my first yoga class after I was handed a free pass to a yoga studio in Manhattan in 2001. I had no idea what I was doing but I felt good, so I kept going back. I practiced throughout my first pregnancy. While my kids were babies my practice was very basic and mostly at home. In Feb 2015, without ever having stepped foot at Revolution I signed up for Yoga Teacher Training. YTT helped me find myself and embrace the true me. It was the best gift I ever gave myself. Yoga has helped me look at things from a whole different perspective. Yoga teacher training was like this beautiful explosion that melted away past pains, blockages and a lot of fear. It helped me learn to love myself for who I am and not for who I am expected to be. The awareness practiced on the mat extends to my life which helps me to stay present and aware of my thoughts, my words and my actions. This in turn has made me a better person, a better wife and mom.

When I'm not working I'm either with my family, studying something new, or at the beach or hiking. As my kids get older and explore their teen years I am slowly learning to be more with me and do more for me. It's bitter sweet at times and I hope that one day they will come back with me to yoga classes.

I teach kids and adults, group classes and privates: Restorative, Beginners, Flow, Yin, Gentle and Chair Yoga. Each session has its special thing I love about it.Kids and Family Yoga are fun and with each little one that comes to class I hope to plant beautiful seeds that will help them carry the practice for the rest of their lives. When a new student steps on the mat it fills me with joy. Restorative Yoga holds a special space in my heart as it is so nurturing and healing, with each session I hope I am giving a little of what Yoga has given me."

My biggest passions?

I am a being of service and love helping others. I am very grateful for the work I do from teaching Yoga to the Energy work I do, it allows me to help others while being able to support my family. There's nothing else I'd rather be doing at this point in my life. I love animals and we foster kittens and get them ready for the adoptive family. It has become a huge practice for non attachment. We fall in love with each kitten we foster and my kids want to adopt them all. It's very hard to let them go after so much nurturing but also very fulfilling to watch the joy with the adopting family. I love traveling, there is so much beauty all over the world and I want to explore as many different countries as possible with my husband and my kids. I love hiking, swimming and scuba diving. The beach is my happy place, when all else fails, I go to the beach. Sharing Yoga with others fills me up, which is why I can truly say I don't ever feel like I am working when I'm teaching.

How do you plan on changing the world?

One of my favorite quotes by Rumi - "Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wiser, so I am changing myself." By growing as a person I hope to be a light that shines and helps others. I truly believe that a positive attitude, love and compassion act like a ripple in the water that can spread wide. I hope to be that ripple!

How many passport stamps do you have?

I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel all over the world being a former international flight attendant with a charter airline. I love immersing myself and my kids in different cultures. I think I have 3 old US passports and 2 old Maltese and my current ones, they all carry many stamps and many memories made in various countries from Asia to Europe and the Middle East, South America and all over the U.S and Canada some with friends and co-workers and for the past 15 years with my husband and kids. Traveling to poor third world countries really opened my eyes to how lucky and spoiled I am and I think has helped me be more aware and compassionate.
