What’s your story?
"I first discovered yoga when my college roommate dragged me to a class our freshman year. From there, I drifted in and out of classes for years but never fully committed to my practice until my mid twenties. I was struggling with an eating disorder at the time and was hoping to create healthier habits and build back some strength. I gained so much more than I could have ever imagined. Yoga uplifted and inspired me to be better. It helped me to excavate, dig deeper and discover who I was and my purpose in life. I had lost my way for a few years and yoga brought me back home. I began the healing process from the inside, out. I got stronger mentally and physically. I was cultivating an inner peace that I had never experienced before. And I was finally able to let go of control and restrictive behaviors and move into living with a greater sense of freedom.
As a teacher, I strive to redefine what we think is possible for ourselves, on our mats and in our lives. With an open heart and a curious mind, we can forge new pathways towards personal growth and transformation. I strongly believe that yoga brings us back to our humanity in the best way possible. The tools we learn through the physical and spiritual practice not only transform our minds and bodies but also become essential counterparts in our everyday lives.
Yoga has a magical way of deepening our connection to ourselves and the world around us. Through this lens, we’re able to move with a greater sense of gratitude and compassion. This practice has carried me through some of my most challenging life moments. It serves as a constant and steadfast reminder that while we may not be able to control the external world, we can control our reactions to what life throws at us. My hope is that my students can experience the same magic that I know comes from receiving this practice."
My biggest passions?
Continuing to grow as a student and teacher of yoga. I am always amazed by the depth of this practice and how its teachings seem infinite. Connection with others, learning how we are all intertwined and coming together in community. My children, who teach me so much about life, patience and love. Traveling to far off places and deepening my understanding of the world. Music, especially LIVE music (you can find me in GA on the floor dancing!) CREATION and anything that relates to art and design. Searching for beauty in unexpected places. Time spent outdoors and on the beach. Laughter with friends and discovering new outlets to stay active.
How do you plan on changing the world?
One breath at a time, one connection at a time. I believe though connection and sharing ourselves and stories with others we get closer to our humanity and understanding the world around us. The best we can do is to lead by example and spread kindness wherever we go. And while one person might not be able to help everybody, everybody can help somebody. How many passport stamps do you have?
Not nearly as much diversity as I would have hoped! I have lots of stamps but mostly repeat trips to Italy, Bahamas, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, St. Maarten, Dominican Republic, and Tahiti. Bali and Iceland are at the top of my list currently!
